Tigers Claw Back to Top Warriors
Doane received 15 kills from Chelsee Marvin and Kari Hochstein as the Tigers rallied to defeat Midland Lutheran College 3-1. Game scores were 25-30, 30-15, 30-21, 30-23. Doane improved to 11-7 overall on the season and 5-1 in GPAC play.
The Tigers struggled to get going in game one, finishing with nine kills and nine attack errors while Midland Lutheran had 15 kills to only six attack errors. However, Doane turned it up in game two, notching 20 kills on 42 attacks for a .405 hitting percentage. The Tigers also hit .390 in game three as they posted 17 kills. For the match, they hit .275 with 60 kills.
Caitlin Schaffert led the way for the Tigers in game two as she collected six of her 10 kills on seven attempts. In game three, Marvin posted six kills to pace the Tiger attack.
Ashley Sluka finished with a team-high 27 assists. Heather Davison added 24 assists and a game-high five ace serves. Kaylee Lubken finished with 21 digs for the Tigers while Jessy Livers dug up 15. Hochstein led the block at the net with five total blocks.
Megan Hoge posted 15 kills for Midland Lutheran with Mikhala Newman adding 14. Holly DeVorss notched 32 assists for the Warriors.
Doane will travel to Sioux City, Iowa, to take on Briar Cliff University on Friday, October 5. The Chargers and Tigers are two of four teams with only one loss in conference play.
