Tiger Season Ends at Dordt
The Tigers entered post-season play as the No. 6 seed in the GPAC tournament this year after finishing in a tie for fifth play. They traveled to Dordt College on Thursday afternoon only to see their hopes of a post-season run cut short by the Defenders. Dordt moves onto the semifinals of the tournament after defeating Doane, 4-1.
The two teams battled through a scoreless first half. Doane held a 4-2 shot advantage after the first 45 minutes of play. In the second half, Dordt was able to get on the scoreboard in the 58th minute as Rindy De Nooy notched a shot that fell in just below the crossbar on the far post. Less than three minutes later the Defenders picked up a goal from likely All-GPAC performer Kate Du Mez. Du Mez' goal came in the 61st minute and in the 64th minute the Defenders sealed the game with a goal from Lindsay Baker.
Doane picked up a goal from Kelsie Grgurich to close the gap to a pair of goals in the 67th minute but Baker picked up her second goal of the game in the 68th minute.
Jordan Ludwig finished with seven saves for Doane while Steph Goslinga posted six saves for Dordt. The Tigers end the season with an 9-8-1 record overall.
