The Doane men's basketball team took to the road for the first time this season on Wednesday evening and came out on the short end to Tabor College, falling 76-60. The loss drops the Tigers to 1-2 on the year.
Cold shooting slowed the Tigers in Hillsboro, Kansas, as they shot 31-percent from the floor, 14-percent from three-point range. Doane was led in scoring by Tyler Weatherholt's 15 points but he was held to one basket in the second half. Trent Schlautman added eight points for Doane.
Tabor shot 50-percent for the game as they received double-digit points from three players. The Bluejays were led by Kyle Kroeker's 20 points as he hit four three-point baskets.
Doane out-rebounded Tabor, 51-35. The Tigers picked up 22 offensive rebounds in the game. Jens Scholl pulled in a career-high 18 boards, five on the offensive end. Zach Moult picked up six rebounds, four offensive.
Doane's next game will be on Sunday morning, 12:01 AM, against the University of Nebraska-Omaha. The game with Nebraska Christian has been cancelled due to player numbers for NCC.
