Sluka Nets GPAC Honor

The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following volleyball players-of-the-week for October 20 - October 26, 2008.  Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2008-2009 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.

Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Volleyball Players-of-the-Week

Setter - Ashley Sluka, Doane 

Doane setter Ashley Sluka is the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Setter-of-the-Week.  Sluka, a senior from Milligan, Nebraska, lofted 5.83 assists per game in the Tigers 6-2 offense as they went 2-1 on the week.  Doane posted a 3-1 road win at No. 20 Hastings and lost a hard fought five game match at No. 13 Northwestern.  For the week, she also had 23 digs and two ace serves.  Doane is now 21-7 on the season.

Player - Randa Hulstein, Northwestern - Middle Blocker
Northwestern middle blocker Randa Hulstein is the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Player-of-the-Week.  Hulstein, a junior from Sioux Center, Iowa, averaged 4.3 kills, 3.9 digs, and 1.7 blocks per game in guiding league leading Northwestern to three wins on the week.  For the week she hit .352, served 98% with two ace serves.  At the net she posted 18 assist blocks.  Northwestern is now 12-0 in GPAC action and 21-6 overall.

Libero- Erika Goldsmith, Nebraska Wesleyan
Nebraska Wesleyan libero Erika Goldsmith is the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Libero-of-the-Week.  Goldsmith, a sophomore from Omaha, Nebraska, averaged 8.2 digs per game the Prairie Wolves went 3-0 on the week in league action.  In a 3-1 win at Briar Cliff, she recorded 39 digs.  Goldsmith leads the league in digs for the season.  Nebraska Wesleyan is now 16-8 for the season.
