Second Half Outburst Carries Tigers
Doane shot 65.2 percent in the second half as they rallied from a 10 point halftime deficit to defeat Midland Lutheran College 86-77 on Wednesday evening. The Tiger defense also stiffened as MLC shot 36.7 percent in the second half, compared to 58.6 percent in the first half.
The second half turn around was keyed by a perfect offensive output by Tyler Cyboron. Cyboron was 4-of-4 from the floor, including a pair of three-point baskets, and 5-of-5 from the free throw line for 15 of his 18 points. Dane Cruz posted 14 second half points and finished with a team-high 22 points. Cruz connected on eight free throw attempts in the second half.
Doane also took advantage of their offensive rebounds, scoring 13 points on seven extra opportunities while MLC only scored four points on eight offensive rebounds. Doane finished the game with five players in double figures as Brett McFarland, Kolby Hamilton and Jack Lind added 10 points each. McFarland and Ben Streck had a game-high six rebounds.
Midland Lutheran was led by Zac Gradoville's 26 point effort. Luke Simons added 18 points for the Warriors.
