Rall Gallery Features Sculpture By Josh Johnson
Rall Gallery features sculptures by Josh Johnson as its November/December exhibition.
Johnson's exhibit "Dark Matter" uses conventional materials in an unconventional fashion.
"Items as diverse as wood glue, carpet tacks and soaker hose become surfaces invented to conceal a polystyrene form and create fleeting illusions of mixed media," Johnson said.
Johnson has a bachelor of fine arts from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. In the past year, he has shown work in galleries in Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota and Ohio.
His current work, he said, "...derives from notions of an inward nature. Not vital organs, cellular structures, or even emotions, but things that are difficult to put your finger on for very long...These sensations are far more interesting to me than the circumstances that may create them."
Rall Gallery is in Perkins Library, in the lower level of the Communications Center on the Crete campus. Hours are Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. - 11 p.m.; Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.; and Sunday, 2-11 p.m.
