After defeating Trinity Christian College (Ill.) in the Opening Round of the NAIA National Volleyball Tournament, Doane College learned on Sunday evening who their opponents would be in pool play November 30-December 2 in Sioux City, Iowa. Doane will enter play as the 14th seed overall at the final site.
The Tigers will be the third seed in a tough pool, opening up with NAIA No. 11 Concordia University (Calif.) on Tuesday, November 30. The Eagles, the second seed in the pool, received the final automatic berth to the final site after finishing the regular season with a 22-8 record. They went 13-7 in the Golden States Athletic Conference. First serve is scheduled for 8:30 PM, following opening day ceremonies.
On December 1, the Tigers will face the top seed in the pool, NAIA No. 2, University of Texas-Brownsville. The Scorpions are 34-1 entering pool play with their only loss of the season coming against the top seed, No. 1 Lee University. Texas-Brownsville picked up a win over Concordia (Calif.) earlier this season. The match between the Tigers and Scorpions is scheduled to start at 5:45 PM.
The final opponent for the Tigers will be one of the upset winners from the NAIA Opening Round, St. Ambrose University. The Bees knocked off No. 17 Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, on Saturday in four sets. St. Ambrose is the fourth seed in the pool and 23rd seed overall. Doane will face the Bees at 5:45 PM.
Doane enters the final site with a 26-6 overall record. This will be the third straight year that the Tigers advance to the final site after winning an opening round game at home.
