Northwestern College used timely baskets and hit their free throws down the stretch to defeat Doane in overtime 82-78. With the win, the Red Raiders now hold sole possession of the GPAC lead as they improved to 6-0 in conference play and 12-2 overall. Doane dropped to 4-1 in the GPAC and 8-5 overall. The loss was Doane's first to an NAIA Division II opponent.
The Red Raiders received 24 points from senior Jaime Hoegh. She was 12-15 from the free throw line. Crystal Algood added a game-high 11 rebounds.
Doane was paced by Lindsay Anderson's 21 points and seven rebounds. Ashley Sullwold collected a game-high seven steals, two shy of the school record.
The score was tied 67-67 at the end of regulation after Doane could not convert on the final possession. Northwestern jumped out to a six point lead in the overtime period, only to have Doane rally to take a one point lead. The Red Raiders then scored the next six points to regain the lead and hold on for the victory.
Doane will be in action on December 17 when they play Davis and Elkins University at the Island Time Classic in the Virgin Islands.
