Michael Weston Named to the Board of Trustees
Michael Weston, a member of the Doane Alumni Council since 2006, has been named to the Doane College Board of Trustees.
Weston was elected executive officer of the Council in 2007, its vice-president in 2008, and was elected its president in 2010. He has served the college as a class agent since 1993 and has volunteered for many alumni activities. He is also a charter member of the Doane College Society.
Weston has been employed by State Farm Insurance since his graduation from Doane in 1993. A Springview native, he earned a bachelor of arts with a major in business administration and a minor in speech communication. Weston was heavily involved as a student leader while at Doane and was elected president of Student Congress his junior and senior years.
He has earned the CLU designation from the American College in Bryn Mawr, PA and the ALMI designation from the Life Office Management Association. In addition, he also holds a Series 6 securities license. While at State Farm he has held multiple professional/technical and supervisory roles in auto and fire claims, learning & development, agency, catastrophe claims, and management planning & information. He is currently a claim advisor in the Lincoln operations center.
Weston's wife, Christie, is the current Deputy Director of Finance at Nebraska Investment Finance Authority. The couple has a 7-year-old son, Jack, and a 4-year-old daughter, Anna, and resides in Lincoln.
Weston's volunteer and community activities include serving as a mentor in State Farm's mentoring program, service as a lector and usher at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, and coaching youth football for Lincoln Parks & Recreation.
