Track Events - Brijesh (B.J.) Lawrence, Doane
Doane's B.J. Lawrence is the track athlete-of-the-week. Lawrence, a sophomore from Omaha, Nebraska, broke the school records in the 100m and 200m dashes this week posting a time of 10.34 and 20.97 respectively. The previous marks of Thaddeus Shannon (10.42, 1997) and Greg Ray (21.21, 1999) stood for more than a decade. He also posted the top marks in the NAIA with his runs on Saturday, both NAIA automatic marks. He anchored the Tiger 4x100m relay team, which posted an automatic NAIA mark.
Field Events - Ronnie Taylor, Hastings
Hastings' Ronnie Taylor is the field athlete-of-the-week. Taylor, a junior from Mesa, Arizona, broke the Hastings College school record in the long jump by .75 inches posting a jump of 25-4.75. The record was set in 2005 by Brandon Diamond at the 2005 GPAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships. After a first place performance at the Hastings College Bronco Relays, Taylor is currently leading the NAIA performance list in the event.
