Doane students can learn about their leadership potential during a student leader dinner and dialogue Thursday, Feb. 4 with John Leonard Harris.
Harris will present "Leadership: It's Your Time" beginning at 6 p.m. in the Kleinkauf Dining Room of the Perry Campus Center.
Harris is founder and president of Encouragement Unlimited, Inc., a faith-based charitable organization. He also is an author and popular keynote and conference speaker, lecturing nationally in academia and the business world on issues of diversity, cultural awareness, leadership, motivation and organizational effectiveness.
Harris has a long history in higher education, working at the University of Nebraska-Omaha and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He served as special assistant to the vice chancellor for student affairs at UNL for many years and helped maintain the presence of underrepresented minority populations on campus. He became a UNL instructor in 2006.
Harris earned a degree in radio, television and film production from the University of Missouri-Columbia, followed by a M.Ed. degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in teaching, learning and teacher education.
