Hot Shooting Keys Victory over IWC
The Tigers received 16 points and eight rebounds from senior Todd Kraus as Doane defeated Iowa Wesleyan College 63-53 on Friday evening.
Doane trailed by seven points after six minutes of play but rallied to take the lead with 5:35 remaining in the first half on a Dane Cruz layup.
The Tigers would not trail again, although IWC did tie the game three times in the second half. Each time Iowa Wesleyan tied the game, Doane answered on their next possession to regain the lead.
Wade Janssen and Todd Kraus combined to hit 3-of-4 free throws in the final minute to seal the victory.
Brent Cole and Kolby Hamilton joined Kraus in double figures for points with 10 each. Cole added 11 rebounds for the double-double.
Iowa Wesleyan collected 11 offensive rebounds in the game to Doane's six but the Tigers out-scored IWC in second chance points 7-3. IWC stayed close by converting 22 Doane turnovers into 17 points.
The Tigers will play Grand View on December 2 in the Iowa Wesleyan/Kiwanis Classic.
