Doane is looking for future music education majors.
Doane College’s music department is hosting a Music Education Forum on Jan. 20 for high school juniors and seniors to learn more about career opportunities in the music education field.
Students will have the chance to meet music education students, sit in on the Doane Symphonic Wind Ensemble’s rehearsal and attend information sessions on music education.
“Teaching music to students is a truly rewarding profession,” said Lance Nielsen, associate professor of music and director of the Mighty Tiger Marching Band.
According to a 2003 Gallup Poll, 88 percent of Americans believe teaching discipline is helped by music participation.
This forum is free for high school students, and will begin at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Doane's School of Arts and Sciences in Crete. Lunch is provided and parents and guardians are welcome to attend. To register, go to http://goo.gl/cTaFhg.
