Hamilton's 25 Points Lifts Doane in OT
Doane used a 9-0 run late in the first half to overcome a two-point deficit and took an eight point lead into halftime in their first game of the Disney Classic versus Daemen University (NY). However, despite shooting 47.8 percent in the second half, the Tigers found themselves heading into overtime against the Wildcats.
Daemen only shot 38.7 percent in the second half but collected 13 offensive rebounds that led to 22 second chance points.
In the overtime period, Kolby Hamilton led Doane with nine of his game-high 25 points. The Tigers were 4-of-5 from the floor and 10-of-14 from the free throw line in the extra period. Doane out-scored the Wildcats 18-9 in the extra five minutes.
Four Tigers joined Hamilton in double figures, led by 16 points from Dane Cruz. Tyler Cyboron and Brett McFarland added 12 points each and Jack Lind notched 11. McFarland finished with a double-double as he picked up 11 rebounds.
Dewan Stroud scored 21 points for Daemen College. Devon Dawson added 18 points and 15 rebounds, including nine offensive boards.
The Tigers improved to 6-6 overall while Daemen drops to 6-4.
Doane will play Westminster College (Utah) on Tuesday, the second day of the Disney Classic.
