Fye Named Co-Track Coach-of-the-Year

Doane College Head Track and Field Coach Ed Fye was named the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Men's Co-Coach-of-the-Year by the conference coaches. Tiger athletes also won GPAC honors.

coach ed fyeDoane claimed their sixth straight men's GPAC Indoor conference title Feb. 18. The Tigers coasted to the victory on the men's side, scoring 175.50 points -- 65.50 points more than second place Concordia. The women's team also posted a victory, defeating Dordt College by four points.

 "This award definitely goes to the coach staff," Fye said of the honor.  "Our efforts as a group helped us claim both titles and the assistant coaches definitely deserve the credit as well."

The 2012 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Indoor Track and Field Season honors include:

Doane's Fye shares the Co-Coach-of-the-Year honors with Dave Nash from Morningside. Coach-of-the-Year honors were voted on by the league coaches.

Four records were broken in the GPAC Championships, including men's heptathlon by Doane athlete Rob Keeney of Callaway.

Doane's Edwin Ronoh of Kenya was named the Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Indoor Track and Field Men's Athlete-of-the-Year. He scored 26 points in the GPAC Championships for the Tigers.
