Five Earn Scholar-Athlete Honors
The NAIA announced the Daktronics Basketball Scholar-Athletes today and five members of the Doane men's & women's basketball teams were named. To earn Scholar-Athlete honors, a student-athlete must be of junior or senior status and maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.50.
On the men's side, juniors Micah Marvin and Bryan Meyer were recognized.
Marvin, a Crete native, scored 11 points in 11 varsity games this season. He shot 42.9-percent from behind the arc this season.
Meyer, a Broken Bow native, averaged 3.7 points and 1.2 rebounds in 28 games this year.
Marvin is majoring in mathematics and physics while Meyer is an elementary education major.
For the Tiger women, three student-athletes were honored, Kalen Carlson, Morgan Dubas and Savannah Lohmeier.
Carlson, a senior from Omaha, earned the honor for the second straight year after being recognized as a junior at Dana College last season. Carlson averaged 4.1 points and 2.7 rebounds.
Dubas, a junior from Hastings, missed the 2010-11 season after an injury suffered during the preseason.
Lohmeier, a sophomore from Milford but a junior academically, averaged 3.0 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game.
