Ed Fye Named GPAC Track Coach of the Year

For the second year in a row, Doane College Head Track and Field Coach Ed Fye was named the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Track Coach of the Year by the conference coaches.

Fye coached both the men’s and women’s teams to first place finishes at the conference meet Feb. 15-16. The victory was the seventh straight for the men and the third straight for the women.

Fye began his track and field coaching career at Doane in 1985 when he was an assistant under Fred Beile. He then replaced Beile as head coach 18 years later.

Since then, Fye has won multiple awards for his coaching achievements including the Lincoln Journal Star State College Coach of the Year in 2010 and Region III Coach of the Year in 2007.
