Doane entered Friday evening with a tough task at hand when they entertained Briar Cliff University on Senior Night. The Chargers entered the game having defeated two ranked teams, Morningside and Dordt, over the previous two weeks and they had their sights set on the 25th-ranked Tigers.
Knowing all of this only sparked a fire under the Tiger players as they jolted the Chargers in straight sets, 25-15, 25-13 and 25-18. The win also kept Doane in contention for a second place finish in the GPAC.
Doane was led by their seniors on the evening. Ivie Speer led the way with 12 kills and a .476 attack percentage and Jessy Livers added 10 kills and 15 digs. Emily Schwisow matched Livers for team-high honors with 15 digs and was 17-of-17 in serve receptions.
The Tigers were extremely balanced on the offensive end as Terra Andreasen added nine kills, Susan Rollman picked up seven and Kellie Peterson finished with six. Doane hit .355 with 47 kills and only eight attack errors.
Heather Davison led the setters with 26 set assists and Cassie Reicks chipped in with 16 for the Tigers.
Briar Cliff was led by Alex Anstine's 10 kills. Samantha Bock picked up 15 digs for the Chargers.
Doane will host No. 18 Morningside College on Saturday at 5:00 PM in the regular season finale.
