Doane Unable to Hold Down Northwestern
Cold shooting limited the Tigers on Saturday evening as they fell to Northwestern College, 68-47. The defense was strong once again as they have held opponents under 70 points in 10 of their last 12 games.
The Tigers trailed by 14 points at the break and cut the lead back to 14 with 15:31 remaining in the second half. However, the Tigers were held scoreless over the next eight minutes and the Red Raiders built a 32 point lead.
Doane was led offensively by Trent Volk's nine points and five rebounds, two offensive. Tyler Weatherholt and Tyler Cyboron added eight points each.
Doane shot 32-percent from the floor and 21-percent from behind the three-point line. The Tigers also struggled from the free throw line, shooting 29-percent from the free throw line.
Doane will travel to Blair on Wednesday to take on Dana College. Tip-off is set for 7:30 PM.
