The women's soccer team picked up their second conference win of the year with a 3-2 victory over Briar Cliff University on Saturday afternoon. The win moved the overall record to 6-4 and evened out the GPAC mark at 2-2.
Doane struck first when Samantha Exstrom scored her tenth goal of the season for the Tigers. Kelsey Kovar posted an assist on the play.
The Tiger's second goal of the game was scored on a header by Katie Hubenka off a corner kick from Exstrom.
Briar Cliff came back to tie the game with a pair of penalty kick goals from Lisa Maxey. She scored one at the end of the first half and the second came early in the second half. With less than 10 minutes remaining in the contest, Sarah Medina picked up the game-winning goal for Doane as she broke away from the Charger defense and went one-on-one with BCU goalie Courtney Bahney.
Bahney finished with 10 saves while Alicia Exstrom posted seven for Doane. The Tigers out-shot Briar Cliff 25-11.
The Tigers will host Dana College on October 1 at 5:00 PM in Crete. The game can be heard on the Tiger Sports Network.
