Doane to Host GPAC Championship
(GPAC Release) Doane College in Crete, Nebraska, will host the 2007 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Cross Country Championships this Saturday, October 27. The Doane Cross Country Course is located on the Doane campus.
Nebraska Wesleyan's women will look to defend their 2006 team title. The Prairie Wolves scored 23 points in winning last year's championship in Blair, Nebraska, at Dana College. Individually Nebraska Wesleyan's Brittany Hubbard returns to defend her title. Hubbard ran a time of 19:02.15 in winning medalist honors last fall. Hubbard also won the 2005 individual championship.
The Nebraska Wesleyan men will also look to defend the team title this year. The Prairie Wolves scored 37 points last year in winning the title at Dana. Concordia's Luka Thor, the 2006 individual champion, will not be in the race this year because of an injury. Thor clocked a time of 25:42.11 last year. 2006 Runner-up Chris Dunker from Nebraska Wesleyan returns to the field this year. He ran a 25:54.76 last fall on the Dana Course.
The women's 5K race will start at 10:30AM and the men's 8K race will start at 11:15AM.
All GPAC Cross Country teams will participate on November 3 in the NAIA Region III Cross Country Championships in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, at the Prairie Green Golf Course.
The NAIA National Cross Country Championships are November 17 in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
