The women's cross country team brought home second place from the NAIA Mid-States Classic hosted by Southwestern College in Winfield, Kan., on Saturday morning. Wayland Baptist, ranked No. 10 in the NAIA, claimed the team title with 39 points. Doane finished with 101 points while Hastings was third with 128 points.
Viviana Arreola led the way with a 12th place finish, posting a time of 18:52.57. Tiffany Bence ran a time of 19:07.55, placing 18th. Clare Hoarty finished 19th after running a time of 19:09.60. Yadira Salazar placed 24th with a time of 19:16.55.
Finishing 30th was Kym Bennett as she ran a time of 19:25.00. Alex Conrin finished 34th after a time of 19:29.41. Marysol Cazares placed 77th with a time of 20:51.09 and Aprill Bodlak ran a time of 21:11.68 to finish 92nd.
Doane's 1-5 split has been impressive recently and was 33 seconds this week. Conrin's time gave the Tigers a 37 second, 1-6 split, which is the best of the season.
Doane will travel to Hastings on Saturday, November 8, for the GPAC Championships.
