Doane Season Ends at 29-10
The Doane volleyball team concluded on Thursday evening in Sioux City at the NAIA National Tournament with a five-game loss to Lewis-Clark State (Idaho). The Tigers end the season with a 29-10 overall record.
The Tigers had opportunities to pick up wins at the start of the match but saw LCSC fight off four game-points in the first game and two game-points in game three. Doane lost both of those sets, 28-26. The Tigers took game two, 25-21, but LCSC fought off the first three game-points as Doane held a 24-18 lead.
In game four, Doane battled back and forth and came away with a 25-22 win as Jessy Livers picked up a kill on the final point. The win in game four sent the match to a decisive fifth game.
Lewis-Clark State controlled the fifth game from the start, building a 9-2 lead. Doane rallied back with three straight points following a timeout but LCSC called a timeout and refocused to pull out a 15-6 win.
Terra Andreasen led Doane with 16 kills while Ivie Speer added 14 kills and four blocks. Kellie Peterson added 10 kills and three total blocks. Jessy Livers posted nine kills and a game-high 26 digs for Doane.
Heather Davison led the Tigers with 36 set assists and Cassie Reicks finished with 16. Davison picked up 14 digs while Reicks led the team with two ace serves.
Nicole Skolnick led the Tiger defensive specialists with 16 digs while Emily Schwisow added 12 digs from her libero spot.
LCSC was led by Dana Christiansen's 18 kills and Anile Clemente added 16 kills. Kim Fong posted 29 set assists and Jenika Bird collected six total blocks.
