Doane ranked 14th on CBS MoneyWatch Best Professors annual list
Once again, liberal arts colleges claim the top spots when it comes to best professor rankings, and Doane is no exception.
CBS MoneyWatch released its annual list of U.S. colleges with the best professors Wednesday. Doane College ranked 14th in the nation out of 650 schools considered. Doane was one of only two Nebraska institutions to make the nationwide list.
Although large institutions would be expected to top the list, small liberal arts institutions make up a majority of the top 20. The dedication to undergraduate learning at smaller institutions promotes better relationships between students and faculty. Doane’s student-to-faculty ratio of 12-to-1 allows for smaller class sizes and greater interaction between students and professors, a major factor in the rankings.
Other small liberal arts colleges also made the top 15 including Oklahoma Wesleyan University and Carleton College.
The rankings were determined from a variety of different factors, including RateMyProfessors.com statistics compiled for Forbes.com to determine its annual college rankings. The information from RateMyProfessors.com was used along with graduation rates, first-year student retention rates, and graduates' salaries, among many other factors to determine the Top 25 list.
