Doane Picks Up GPAC Win
Doane used the strength of two penalty kicks in the first half to propel them to a 6-0 victory over Dakota Wesleyan on Saturday evening. The men improved to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in conference play.
Monday Akogwu scored the first goal of the game 20:12 into the first half. It was the first of three goals Akogwu would collect on the evening. Kyle Smith added a goal at 42:56 to put the Tigers up 2-0 heading into halftime.
Jeff Wick got the Tigers' scoring out-burst going just three minutes into the second period when he picked up a rebound off of DWU keeper Patrick Ryan. Akogwu scored the next two goals over a two minute stretch. Scott Whitlock closed out the scoring with just over a minute left in the game.
Doane out-shot Dakota Wesleyan 25-11 and 12-5 in shots on goal. Chris Kavinsky picked up the win for Doane.
