Doane Holds Off Concordia
The Tigers got off to another sluggish start, falling behind Concordia 11-0 to open the game. The Tigers first points came at the 14:53 mark on a Lindsay Anderson basket. Doane had five turnovers in their first eight possessions.
Trailing 15-8 with 9:55 remaining, Doane put together a 13-0 run to take a six point lead at 21-15. Vanessa Munter came off the bench to spark the Tigers, collecting seven points during the run.
Doane was able to build a lead of 15 points with a minute to go but fouls allowed Concordia to hit six free throws to pull within nine points. The Tigers were able to get a transition layup after a made free throw. Justine Munsterman found Becky Marsh for the basket and 11 point leading going into halftime, 39-28.
After exchanging baskets to open the second half, the Tigers scored on four consecutive possessions to build a 19 point lead. The Tigers led 53-34 with 12:45 left in the game.
Concordia followed by hitting a pair of three-point baskets to start their run. After 13 straight Bulldog points, the Tigers finally broke their skid with a pair of Alissa Holland free throws with 8:43 remaining.
After Doane moved the lead back to 10 points, the Bulldogs went on a 12-1 run to take their first lead since the eight minute mark of the first half. Concordia led 59-58 with 4:51 remaining.
The Tigers retook the lead when Justine Munsterman found Nicole Anderson for a three-point basket in the corner. Concordia came back with a two-point basket to tie the game at 61 with 3:49 left.
After exchanging turnovers, Lindsay Anderson hit Justine Munsterman on the left wing for a two-point jump shot to take the lead for good. Alissa Holland added five points down the stretch to cap the victory.
Doane was led in scoring by Holland's 18 points. She was 3-of-4 from three-point range. Holland also added eight rebounds.
Lindsay Anderson added 16 points and Ashley Howard posted nine. Nicole Anderson and Vanessa Munter posted seven points each off the bench. Justine Munsterman collected five assists.
Concordia was led by Melissa Tinkham's 12 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the floor.
