From a student to a world traveler and illustrator, Doane graduate Ashley Spitsnogle '08 can now add one more mark to her impressive list-an artwork display at the governor's mansion.
The display is a prestigious honor, with artists already lined up to display their works through December 2013.
Spitsnogle graduated from Doane with a degree in art and an emphasis in painting and drawing. She later went on to spend time in Florence, Italy where she earned graduate credits for painting and drawing.
So far, Spitsnogle's art career has taken flight. She has acquired over 1,000 ‘likes' on her Facebook fan page for her artwork where she posts pictures of artwork and projects.
One of her biggest successes came from the opportunity to illustrate a children's water safety book called "Josh the Baby Otter." The book was written by Blake Collingsworth after his two-year-old son Joshua drowned last summer. The books have been distributed to every grade school in Nebraska to educate children on the importance of water safety.
To view Spitsnogle's latest work, the exhibit is on display to the public through September 25. For more on Spitsnogle's artwork, visit www.ashleyspitsnogle.com or ‘like' her fan page on Facebook.
