The Tiger women's basketball team snapped a three-game skid and also ended a three-game losing streak at Dana College on Tuesday evening with a 72-63 victory over the Vikings. The win evens the Doane record at 1-1 in conference play.
The two teams were scoreless for nearly three minutes to start the game before Vanessa Munter put the Tigers on the board. Tied at 4-all, Doane went on a 9-2 run to open up a seven point lead. The closest the Vikings could get was four points and that was midway through the first half.
Doane took an 18 point lead into halftime and led by the same amount with two minutes left before Dana closed with a 10-1 run.
The Tigers received 17 points and seven rebounds from Hannah Helman off the bench. Vanessa Munter added 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Tigers. Kristine Ortmeier picked up 11 points for Doane. Brittany Lurz finished with a game-high five assists and zero turnovers. Savannah Lohmeier and Helman added four assists each.
Dana was led by Kalen Carlson's 12 points. Kayla Hofstetter picked up 11 points and Doane-nemesis Tricia Trotter was held to 10 points. Trotter had averaged 23 points per game the last two meetings in Blair but was held without a basket until five minutes remaining in the game.
Doane will be at home on November 27 when they take on Sterling College at 7:00 PM.
