Doane Duo Earns All-American Honors
After capping another successful season at the NAIA National Volleyball Tournament, the Tiger volleyball squad was recognized with individual national honors. Susan Rollman and Ashley Axmann were named NAIA All-Americans after helping the Tigers to a 27-8 record and national ranking of 15th.
Rollman, a sophomore from Humphrey, earned Second Team honors. She is one of nine Tiger players to have been honored by a team distinction (first, second or third team). She led the Tigers in attack percentage, hitting out of the middle this season at a .366 clip, which ranked 19th in the NAIA and is the third best in a single season at Doane. She posted 24 matches with 10 or more kills, including a season-high 18 kills on four occasions. Rollman also led the Tigers with 114 total blocks (0.93/set). She was second on the team with 386 kills (3.14/set). Susan is the daughter of Timothy and Margery Rollman.
Axmann, a freshman from Pleasanton, earned honorable mention honors. She led the team in kills with 432 (3.51/set). She also had a solid attack percentage from the outside with a .252 mark. She added 13 ace serves, 55 total blocks and a .976 serve reception percentage. Axmann had 27 matches with 10 or more kills including a season-high 23 versus Morningside in the Quarterfinal Round of the GPAC Tournament. Ashley is the daughter of Kraig and Karen Axmann.
Doane finished the season as the GPAC regular season and post-season runners-up to Northwestern College. This year marked the first time in school history that Doane qualified for three consecutive national tournament appearances.
