Doane Drops Pair of Matches
The Tiger men's tennis team dropped a pair of matches on Friday afternoon, falling to Oklahoma Wesleyan and Tabor.
Oklahoma Wesleyan (L 7-2)
The Eagles controlled much of the match with the Tigers. Doane won one match in singles play and one in doubles.
In singles action, Ross Schulenberg defeated Daniel Nino in a tie-break, 6-1, 6-7 (3-7), 1-0 (10-6). Chance Hohensee fell to Diego Kalach, 0-6, 0-6. Sam Tipton lost at No. 3 singles, 2-6, 4-6, to David Aldana.
Josh Johnson dropped his match in a tie-break to Jemail Cheatham, 6-3, 2-6, 0-1 (2-10). Phil Cook fell to Greg Wilson, 1-6, 0-6. Aaron Haag lost to David Dunn, 1-6, 1-6.
In doubles action, Schulenberg and Tipton fell to Nino and Kalach, 4-8. Hohensee & Cook dropped their match to Aldana and Cheatman, 2-8. Johnson and Haag won at No. 3 doubles over Joe & Jarrett Deathrage, 8-4.
Tabor (L 8-1)
Johnson and Haag won their second doubles match of the day, picking up the lone win for the Tigers. They defeated Jake Brucks and Jeremy Reiswig, 8-6. In other doubles action, Schulenberg and Tipton fell to David Simmet and Cory Sims, 6-8. Hohensee and Cook fell to Mike Jaderston and Kelyn Vix, 2-8.
In singles play, Schulenberg lost to Simmet, 2-6, 3-6. Hohensee lost to Gabriel Valle, 0-6, 0-6. Tipton fell to Jaderston, 2-6, 3-6. Johnson dropped No. 4 singles to Simms, 3-6, 0-6. Cook lost to Tyler Dort, 2-6, 2-6. Haag lost to Reiswig, 2-6, 3-6.
