Doane Downs Bethany in Three Games
Doane picked up their 10th win of the season on Saturday afternoon by defeating Bethany College in the final match of the Hastings Volleyball Classic. The Tigers needed just three games to defeat the Swedes 25-11, 25-11 and 25-16.
The final three matches of the classic could be deemed the Axmann and Rollman show. Ashley Axmann and Susan Rollman paced the Tigers for the third straight match both offensively and at the net defensively. Both players finished with 12 kills and the match while Rollman led the team with three blocks and Axmann added two. Terra Andreasen joined her teammates in double-figures for kills with 11.
Heather Davison dished out 33 assists and picked up one ace serve. Lisa Lord added three assists and Kellie Peterson and Cassie Reicks each had two. Peterson also had an ace serve.
Nicole Skolnick led the back row with 16 digs while Desiree Erikson and Reicks added nine apiece.
Doane will turn their attention to GPAC play the rest of the season and will start the remainder of the schedule with the top two teams from a year ago in the conference. The Tigers will head to Morningside on Wednesday, September 15, to take on the Mustangs and then travel to defending conference champion, Northwestern, next Saturday.
