Doane College Named As ‘Great College to Work For’
Doane College is one of the best colleges in the nation to work for, according to a new survey by The Chronicle of Higher Education.
The results, released today in The Chronicle’s annual report on academic workplaces, are based on a survey of more than 44,000 employees at 300 colleges and universities. Only 97 of the 300 institutions achieved “Great College to Work For” recognition for specific practices and policies.
To be recognized as a “Great College to Work For,” a college must excel in one of 12 recognition categories. Results are reported for small, medium and large institutions, with Doane included among the small.
Doane won honors in two categories this year:
- Teaching environment
- Tenure clarity and process
“This recognition is a tribute to the quality of our work environment and our consistent commitment to foster and support Doane as a great place to both learn and work,” said Doane College President Jacque Carter.
The survey results are based on a two-part assessment process: an institutional audit that captured demographics and workplace policies from each institution, and a survey administered to faculty, administrators and professional support staff. The primary factor in deciding whether an institution received recognition was the employee feedback.
