Doane College Kicks off 2009 Area Campaign
Doane College kicked off its 2009 area campaign Sept. 27. The drive follows the theme "Doane's Impact on the Community, and the Community's Impact on Doane." This year, the Campaign hopes to raise $160,000.
The money raised will be used for the college's Doane Fund, which supports the scholarships given to Saline County students attending Doane College. Designated gifts to other activities, such as academic and co-curricular initiatives, are also encouraged and counted in the campaign.
This year, Kelly and Dr. Jim Jirovec will be heading the campaign. Kelly has worked at the college for 13 years, and Jim grew up in Crete, and is also a dentist in Crete.
Kelly said they have been involved in the area campaign for many years, and this year they volunteered to head the campaign. She said she and Jim wanted to be involved in promoting Doane College, and to promote Doane's partnership with the community.
"Like any relationship," Kelly said. "The relationship between the community and the college is something we all have to work at to make it successful."
While the campaign continues throughout the year, the official campaign will ‘conclude' with the annual Victory Celebration. All donors are invited to attend the celebration on Sunday, Dec. 6, after the Holiday Concert. The celebration will begin around 5 p.m. in the Whitcomb Lee Conservatory. To make a donation to the campaign, contact the campaign chairs or call the Advancement Office at 402.826.8258.
