Doane Choir to Perform with Lincoln Symphony
The Doane Choir will perform with the Lincoln Symphony on October 22. This is the first time in many years that Doane Choir has collaborated with the Lincoln Symphony under their primary conductor, Edward Polochick.
The performance will take place in the Kimball Recital Hall at 7:30 p.m.
This year, the Doane Choir, under the direction of Kurt Runestad, will also be singing alongside Lincoln's brand new professional choir, Abendchor, which is co-directed by Therees Hibbard and Tom Trenney.
The groups will perform works by Vaughan Williams and Beethoven. According to the Lincoln Symphony Web site, " A duet of Vaughan Williams works includes Serenade to Music, a gorgeous setting for Shakespeare' s The Merchant of Venice, and Flos Campi, a lush composition featuring solo viola and choir.
Beethoven' s Symphony No. 5, with its famous opening gesture and emotional journey of
struggle to victory, closes the program."
