Doane Bounces Back to Top DWU
Doane got out to a quick start on Saturday afternoon against Dakota Wesleyan but had to battle down the stretch for a 2-1 victory in the battle of the Tigers.
Doane jumped on the board first with a goal in the 11th minute as Tom Heavey scored off of assists from Jordan Schafer and Matt Sifers. The Tigers took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
Dakota Wesleyan wouldn't go away and they final broke through on the scoreboard in the 60th minute as Eric Christianson scored.
Doane, in danger of tying a team at the bottom third of the conference standings, was able to turn their aggressive approach back on as they had at the start of the game and Kyle Smith gave the Tigers the lead back, scoring on a pass from Jace Peters.
Chris Kavinsky finished with five saves in goal for the Tigers.
