Doane Banged Up at Midland

The Tiger football team fell behind early and the hill was too high to climb as Doane fell to Midland University, 48-10, in Fremont. Doane falls to 2-4 overall and in the GPAC.

Midland led 21-0 before Doane was able to get on the scoreboard as Anthony Dunn hooked up with Jeremiah Saffold for a 24-yard touchdown in the second quarter. Doane's final score came on a 26-yard field goal by Andrew Nielsen in the third quarter.

The Warriors out-yarded the Tigers 552-205, holding a 241-49 advantage on the ground. Doane also had four turnovers compared to one for Midland.

Tim Reed led the rushing attack with 51 yards while Jaremy Puthoff finished with 29 yards. Doane had 49 yards lost on the day.

Anthony Dunn completed 10-of-19 passes for 115 yards and a touchdown. Reid Rando completed 5-of-8 for 41 yards.

Tyrone Curry caught five passes for 43 yards while Saffold finished with three receptions for 40 yards.

Defensively, Trevor Wit led the team with seven total tackles. Leo Arroyo finished with five solo tackles and an interception. Cason Christensen led the team with two tackles for loss.

Doane will host Northwestern College on October 23 at 1:00 PM.
