Doane again named 'Great College to Work For'
Doane College is one of the best colleges in the nation to work for according to a new survey by The Chronicle of Higher Education.
The results, released today in The Chronicle’s annual report on academic workplaces, are based on a survey of more than 43,000 employees at 278 colleges and universities. Only 92 of the 278 institutions achieved “Great College to Work For” recognition for specific practices and policies.
To be named a “Great College to Work For,” a college must excel in one of 12 recognition categories. Results are reported for small, medium and large institutions, with Doane included among the small segment.
Doane won honors in two categories this year, “Teaching environment” and “Tenure clarity and process.”
“We are honored to once again be selected as a ‘Great College to Work For,’” said Doane College President Jacque Carter. “We take great pride in not only providing a quality education for our students, but also in fostering a sense of community for our faculty and staff, who devotedly serve the college’s mission day in and day out.”
The survey results are based on a two-part assessment process: An institutional audit that captured demographics and workplace policies from each institution, and a survey administered to faculty, administrators and professional support staff. The primary factor in deciding whether an institution received recognition was employee feedback.
