Doane 2008 Area Campaign Underway
Doane College kicked off its 2008 area campaign Sept. 28.
The five-week drive follows the theme "Insuring the Future of Doane" and is expected to raise $160,000.
Dollars raised will be used for the college's Doane Fund, which is critical to day-to-day operations and helps balance the college budget. The Doane Fund also augments scholarship funds and assists in academic and cocurricular initiatives.
Dave and Patty Bauer of Crete will lead this year's campaign. Patty works for City Bank & Trust Company. Dave works for Davidson Insurance Agency.
Growing up in the area, both saw firsthand the importance of Doane in the Crete community and Crete's importance to Doane.
"We have been impressed with Doane's willingness to work with the community in the use of its facilities and welcoming people onto the campus. We look forward to leading the area campaign as we work again with alumni, business leaders and friends of the college to meet our goal," the Bauers said.
The couple will be assisted by Jim and Kelly Jirovec of Crete.
The campaign will conclude with the annual Victory Dinner. All donors are invited to attend the dinner on Sunday, Nov. 23, at 6 p.m. in Perry Campus Center. A reception precedes the dinner, beginning at 5 p.m.
