Dion Jordan Speech Highlights Martin Luther King Jr. Events
Audiences at Doane's Crete campus can hear Dion Jordan's advice for "Living the Dream" as part of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day events.
Jordan, who has appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show and in USA Today, will speak Monday, Jan. 18 at 11 a.m. in Heckman Auditorium of the Communications Center.
The lecture is free and open to the public, sponsored by Doane's Multicultural Support Services. Jordan also will meet with student leaders during a dinner Jan. 17.
Jordan is a successful motivational speaker, consultant and author, earning Monster.com's "speaking rock star" award three years running. He wrote the best seller All it Takes is All That You've Got.
Part of the passion behind his message comes from the obstacles he overcame in his own life. Severely pigeon-toed at birth, he underwent corrective surgery and had to re-learn to walk and master motor skills. He also overcame a serious speech impediment, one of the reasons his speeches are filled with compassion for people and their struggles.
Today, he is an international speaker with more than 20 years experience in leadership and personal potential.
Jordan graduated from Huston-Tillotson University and earned a master's degree in education from Claremont College.
