Chargers Bolt Past Doane

Doane jumped out early on No. 21 Briar Cliff University but the Chargers had all the answers on Saturday afternoon in Crete as they came from six points down to defeat the Tigers, 90-65.

The Chargers were led by NAIA leading scorer Liz Grider and her 25 points.  The Tigers held Grider to nine points in the first half.  She had seven straight points for the Chargers early in the second half as Briar Cliff turned a 16 point lead into a 23 point advantage.

Doane was led by Kristine Ortmeier's 18 points, 13 rebounds and four assists.  Vanessa Munter added 17 points, 12 rebounds, three assists and three steals for Doane.  Cheryl Braithwait and Lindsay Shaw were also in double-figures for the Tigers with 10 points apiece.

Doane shot 32.8-percent from the floor, 41-percent in the second half.  Briar Cliff shot 44.9-percent for the game, 51-percent in the second half.  Doane committed 28 turnovers while Briar Cliff finished with 22 turnovers in the game.
