Bennett, Schlueter Win Two Events
The Tigers received two first place victories each from Kym Bennett and Abby Schlueter as Doane hosted the Ward Haylett Invite on Saturday afternoon.
Bennett took first place in the one mile run (5:18.02) and the 3,000 meter run (11:00.00). Bennett's time in the mile meets the provisional qualifying standard. Schlueter won the long jump (17-00.50) and triple jump (36-09.00). Her mark in the triple jump meets the NAIA automatic qualifying standard.
Also picking up first place finishes in running events for the Tigers were Kacee Kemper (400m), Ellie Windle (600m), Lindsey Wallman (1,000m), Erin Fogarty (55m hurdles), and the 4x400 meter relay team. Windle and Fogarty's finishes were good for automatic qualifying marks.
Katie Bartels won the high jump (5-05), hitting the automatic qualifying standard. Bartels is the second freshman to win the high jump in two weeks for the Tigers. Last week, Jenna Temme won the unseeded event at the Holiday Inn Invite at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
The Tigers will be in action again on Saturday, January 27, when they travel to Kearney for the Loper's Invitational.
