Axmann, Davison Snag GPAC Honors

(GPAC Release) The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following volleyball players-of-the-week for September 28 -October 3, 2010. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2010-2011 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.

Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Volleyball Players-of-the-Week

Player - Ashley Axmann, Doane (Outside Hitter)
Doane outside hitter Ashley Axmann is the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Player-of-the-Week. Axmann, a freshman from Pleasanton, Nebraska, averaged 4.3 kill per set and posted a .480 attack percentage as the Tigers went 2-0 on the week. For the week she had just two attack errors in 50 attempts. She had 14 kills against Mount Marty and 12 versus Concordia. Doane, ranked 15th (last week's poll), is now 14-4 on the season.

Setter- Heather Davidson, Doane (Setter)
Doane setter Heather Davidson is the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Setter-of-the-Week. Davidson, a senior from Lincoln, Nebraska, averaged 13 assists per set as the Tigers went 2-0. She also totaled ten digs on the week as Doane is now 14-4. The Tigers are 5-1 in conference play entering this week.

Libero- Liz Hervert, Hastings (Libero)
Hastings libero Liz Hervert is the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Libero-of-the-Week. Hervert, a senior from Sutton, Nebraska, averaged 5.64 digs per set as the Broncos went 2-1 on the week. In an upset win over Dordt on Saturday she totaled an amazing 39 digs in the five set win. She also had four ace serves on the week. Hastings is now 15-9 overall and 5-2 in GPAC action.
