Anderson's 34 Carry Tigers to Win
Doane snapped a season-high three-game losing streak on Saturday afternoon with a 77-68 victory over Dakota Wesleyan University in Crete. The Tigers were able to overcome 25 turnovers by shooting 60.8 percent from the floor and 50 percent from behind the three-point arc. DWU stayed in the game by shooting 46.3 percent and getting to the free throw line more often than Doane.
The Tigers were able to build a 10 point lead just seven minutes into the game by starting with a 19-9 run. Lindsay Anderson had eight of the 19 points to open the game. DWU battled back and tied the game at 24-24 with 6:49 remaining in the first half. During the stretch in which DWU was able to tie the game, Doane turned over the ball six times on 11 possessions.
However, Doane responded with a 12-0 run to take a 36-24 lead with 2:45 left in the half. The Tigers led 42-31 at the break. Anderson led all scorers after 20 minutes of play with 21 points.
In the second half, DWU was able to pull within five points on two occasions but the Tigers were able to respond with runs of their own to increase the lead back to double digits.
Anderson led the way for Doane as she finished with 34 points in 34 minutes played. She was 12-of-17 from the floor and 6-of-7 from the free throw line. Vanessa Munter added 12 points and six rebounds.
DWU was led by Allison Johnson and Angela Noteboom's 12 points each. Noteboom added eight rebounds.
Doane will travel to Fremont on Wednesday, December 5, to take on Midland Lutheran College at 7:30 PM. The game can be heard on the Tiger Sports Network. There is a possibility that this game will be a men's/women's doubleheader due to a rescheduling on MLC's part.
