This course focuses on improving the quality ofybusiness operations through the use of bestypractices, standardization of procedures,yreduction of variation, and continuous improvementyof processes. Students successfully completingythis course will be able to: 1) identifyystrategies to achieve competitive advantageythrough operations, 2) discuss the importance andyuse of project management techniques, 3) defineyquality and explain its relationship toyorganizational strategy, 4) construct and useycontrol charts to help improve operations, 5)ydiscuss the roles of ergonomics and methodsyanalysis in achieving competitive advantage, 6)yidentify the major supply chain strategies, and 7)yexplain the operational impacts of theyJust-In-Time approach and the use of LeanyProduction. Prerequisites: BUS 215 and 242, orypermission.
