Doane offers an outstanding array of programs for adult learners through our College of Professional Studies and College of Education. With 12 undergraduate degrees, five master’s degrees, an initial certification at the advanced level and an education specialist advanced degree available across three campuses, you can earn the degree you want with a learning experience that’s innovative and all about you.

Health Sciences

UNDERGRADUATE - COLLEGE OF PROFESSIONAL STUDIES

Health Sciences workers promote health, prevent disease, and help patients cope with illness and are advocates and health educators for patients, families and communities. When providing direct patient care, they observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress; assist physicians during treatments and examinations; administer medications; and assist in convalescence and rehabilitation. The program is a multidisciplinary major grounded in the liberal arts. It offers a Bachelor of Science degree completion program for people who hold an associate in a health-related field and wish to complete a baccalaureate degree for career and professional development.

RN to BSN

UNDERGRADUATE - COLLEGE OF PROFESSIONAL STUDIES

The RN to BSN program allows licensed registered nurses to complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Doane recognizes that your academic, clinical and professional experiences in the healthcare profession provide a firm foundation to build upon and enhance with a degree program in the liberal arts tradition. Completion of the degree requirements involves courses in nursing and the liberal arts that continue the development of skills for critical thinking, problem solving, conflict resolution and team building. Students will also develop a knowledge base for leadership in the profession.

Human Relations

UNDERGRADUATE - COLLEGE OF PROFESSIONAL STUDIES

The Human Relations major is a combination of psychology, human relations, communication and research studies. The program focuses on human development, personality theory, interpersonal and group communication, multiculturalism, professional ethics and development of counseling skills. Doane’s human relations major is designed specifically for persons seeking careers in human service professions like social work, community support, mental health, life skills and nonprofit management.

Information Systems & Technology

UNDERGRADUATE - COLLEGE OF PROFESSIONAL STUDIES

The Information Systems & Technology major provides individuals with the right set of skills to keep up with the continually changing landscape of the digital world. Through this major, you will experience a blend of courses that will enable you to deploy technology and manage information in ways that assure security, reliability and efficiency. This major gives you the opportunity to specialize in the field of information systems and technology that most interests you.

Liberal Arts Studies

UNDERGRADUATE - COLLEGE OF PROFESSIONAL STUDIES

This degree program is specifically designed for nontraditional students seeking a bachelor’s degree for career advancement and personal growth. It allows students who have completed an associate’s degree to earn their bachelor’s degree in a timely manner. The program of study provides a curriculum focusing on the development of critical and analytical skills, oral and written communication skills, and a strong liberal arts component to balance the technical knowledge acquired through the associate’s degree.

Organizational Communication

UNDERGRADUATE - COLLEGE OF PROFESSIONAL STUDIES

The Organizational Communication major focuses on the impact of effective communication in business and not-for-profit organizations. This major integrates coursework in the fields of communication, business, psychology, sociology, writing, and research. You will learn how to interact with and motivate people, sell ideas and products, promote organizations and events, build productive teams, and train and develop people.

Professional Studies in Accounting

UNDERGRADUATE - COLLEGE OF PROFESSIONAL STUDIES

Doane’s Professional Studies in Accounting degree provides a solid foundation in accounting and financial practices. The program is designed to fulfill state educational requirements to take the CPA exam.

Professional Studies in Business

UNDERGRADUATE - COLLEGE OF PROFESSIONAL STUDIES

The Professional Studies in Business major develops leaders by focusing on ethics, communication, problem solving, decision-making, leadership, risk-taking and change. Doane University continually monitors business and industry locally and nationally to stay on the cutting edge of educational demands.

Public Administration

UNDERGRADUATE - COLLEGE OF PROFESSIONAL STUDIES

The Public Administration major provides individuals for careers in public service and further development in professional and paraprofessional careers. As an interdisciplinary major, you’ll integrate course work from business, economics, sociology, political science, human relations and communication. In addition, if you wish to complete a professional degree for a career in public service, the Public Administration major is recommended if you intend to pursue a graduate degree in law.

Master of Arts in Counseling

GRADUATE - COLLEGE OF PROFESSIONAL STUDIES

Doane’s Master of Arts in Counseling program follows a competency-based, practitioner model, which places primary emphasis on students who are seeking state licensure in mental health counseling. This "basic competencies" model is similar to the model developed by the National Council of Schools and Programs in Professional Psychology.

Master of Arts in Management

GRADUATE - COLLEGE OF PROFESSIONAL STUDIES

A Master of Arts in Management degree can help you manage and lead in any industry. It can open doors to graduate-level positions and can also help with life outside the office. Doane University’s premier program places organizational leadership in a liberal arts context. As a graduate, you’ll effectively communicate and collaborate with others, apply economic, financial and managerial theories to meet organizational goals and develop the leadership skills that apply to either for-profit or nonprofit organizations, such as corporations, hospitals, churches, museums, schools and social service organizations.

Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction

GRADUATE - COLLEGE OF EDUCATION

Doane launched its Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction program more than 20 years ago, based on input from teachers and school districts. We continuously advance the program, and include the same crucial input. Students choose Doane’s program for coursework that is relevant and applicable; for faculty who believe educational professionals are lifelong learners; for a curriculum that incorporates experience and knowledge, best practice, current research, application and evaluation.

Master of Education in Educational Leadership

GRADUATE - COLLEGE OF EDUCATION

The Educational Leadership program prepares candidates for leadership positions which include principals, assistant principals, and other building level leadership positions. Our innovative program began in the summer of 1996, and was developed collaboratively with practicing school administrators as well as uses recommendations from the National Policy Board for Educational Administration.
