Study of statutes and significant case lawyaffecting journalism, including libel, copyright,yrights of privacy, First and Fourth Amendments,yand regulations and procedures of federalyregulatory agencies. A case study approach is usedyto examine significant ethical issues related toyadvertising, news gathering and reporting. Theystudent who successfully completes this courseywill recognize and understand the key laws andyregulations governing journalistic institutionsyand their employees and will be able to identifyysignificant areas of contention regarding them.yThey will also develop a foundation foryarticulating a personal code of ethics to guideytheir future professional activities in massymedia.
