The course examines the roles, traits, andycontribution of the nurse in organizationalyleadership and managerial positions and as theylead advocate for people in their most vulnerableystate. Its focus is the personal and professionalydevelopment of the practicing nurse as a mentoryand coach to the people they serve. Topics includeyservant leadership, emotional intelligence, activeylistening, building relationships, culturalyawareness, conflict resolution, delegation, andyteam building. Students develop competencies andyskills that will enable them to manage and leadyeffectively and have an opportunity to apply thoseycompetences and skills in an appropriate healthycare setting.
