An advanced exposure to relevant human resourceymanagement topics, using a case-based analyticalyapproach. Emphasis is placed upon how strategicyhuman resource decisions interplay with theyoverall strategies of an organization. Uponysuccessful completion of this course, studentsywill be able to: 1) explain the relationship ofyhuman resource strategy with overall organizationystrategy; 2) describe how an organization'syexternal and global environments directly andyindirectly impact strategic human resourceymanagement decisions; 3) elucidate strategies foryeffective recruitment, selections, and retentionyof employees; 4) discuss ways to increaseyproductivity through organizational restructuring,yjob design, and effective leadership; and 5)ydelineate the characteristics of a goodydisciplinary climate. Prerequisite: BUS 242 orypermission.
