Financing Your Education

Education is one of the most important, and possibly the first, big investment of your life. Spend some time researching scholarships as they can be a big factor in financing your years at college. If you enrolled in classes at Doane College prior to Fall 2014, then please use the following document to determine your academic scholarship requirements. Federal Pell Grant Maximum Award $5,550

Awarded to undergraduate students with exceptional financial need.

2 full-time semesters or 4 full-time terms per academic year

Iraq and Afghanistan Service Grant Maximum Award $5,550

An undergraduate student whose parent or guardian was a member of the U.S. Armed Forces and died as a result of service performed in Iraq or Afghanistan after September 11, 2001.

Apply for the FAFSA.

2 full-time semesters or 4 full-time terms per academic year

Nebraska Opportunity Grant (NOG) Maximum Award $3,000

Nebraska resident who demonstrates high need. Limited availability.

Eligible recipient names are submitted to the State of Nebraska's Coordinating Commission of Post-Secondary Education pending approval.

2 full-time semesters or 4 full-time terms per academic year

Teacher Education Assistance for College Higher Education Grant (TEACH) Maximum Award: Undergraduate $16,000; Graduate $8,000

NOTE: You must contact the Financial Aid Office prior to applying for the TEACH Grant to determine if you qualify for the TEACH grant by your ACT percentile score or current Doane GPA.

Apply for the FAFSA, then complete TEACH Grant Counseling and Agreement to Serve (ATS)

2 full-time semesters or 4 full-time terms per academic year

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) Maximum Award $2,500

Awarded to undergraduate students who have not earned a bachelor’s degree and demonstrate exceptional financial need (Pell Grant eligible). Funding is limited.

2 full-time semesters or 4 full-time terms per academic year

Thermo Scientific Pierce Scholarship $5,000 / $10,000

To qualify for the scholarship, students must have a GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) and be enrolled in an accredited college for university for the Spring 2015 semester.

Students may apply for the scholarship through the Thermo Scientific Pierce Scholarship Website.

 

Federal Direct Subsidized & Unsubsidized Stafford Loans Determined by FAFSA and grade level.

Subsidized Stafford loans are available to undergraduate students who demonstrate financial need and are enrolled at least half-time.

Clark Scholarship

Any student enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at any time during calendar year 2014 at any accredited American college, university or trade school.
