Financing Your Education

Education is one of the most important, and possibly the first, big investment of your life. Spend some time researching scholarships as they can be a big factor in financing your years at college. If you enrolled in classes at Doane College prior to Fall 2014, then please use the following document to determine your academic scholarship requirements. Federal Direct Subsidized & Unsubsidized Stafford Loans Determined by FAFSA and grade level.

Subsidized Stafford loans are available to undergraduate students who demonstrate financial need and are enrolled at least half-time.

Apply for the FAFSA.

 

Federal Direct PLUS (Parent) Loan Varies (Up to Cost of Attendance)

Parents who do not have adverse credit history may borrow for their dependent student. Applications are approved by the Federal Direct Loan Origination Center based on a credit check.

Apply for the FAFSA and complete Direct PLUS Loan Request and Master Promissory Note here

Begins after the loan is fully disbursed. Deferment options are available. Please contact the Financial Aid Office for further information.

Families of Freedom Scholarship Fund More information is available at FamiliesofFreedom.org

Provides education assistance to members of families impacted by 9-11.

Excellence Funding Varies. Included in the total financial aid package as required by federal regulations and college policies.

Excellence Funding is given to students who will make an immediate impact to a program as determined by the coach for an athletic program or a director of a fine arts program.

Contact the Office of Admission or Financial Aid Office.

This scholarship will be renewed according to the requirements set forth by the director or head coach in the area of the scholarship.

DutchCrafters Heritage Scholarship

The application deadline is May 1, 2014 for the 2014-15 academic year.

The application consists of three parts:

This scholarship is not renewable.

Doane's Leadership Award

Admitted students are automatically eligible with a minimum 3.5 GPA.

To be considered, students should:

Students should complete the scholarship application and schedule an interview.

Renewable for up to eight semesters if the student maintains a 3.0 GPA and full-time enrollment status.

Doane College Legacy Grant $1,000

Awarded to admitted applicants who have a current sibling attending the Crete campus or who have had a sibling, parent, grandparent or great-grandparent graduate from Doane College.

Eligible students receive this award.

This grant is renewable for up to eight semesters.

Dianne Grieser Memorial Scholarship

Must be a graduate of any Lincoln public high school interested in a career in the business field.  Must be attending an institution of higher learning in the state of Nebraska.

Additional details and applications available in the Financial Aid Office.

Not eligible for renewal.

Custer County Foundation Scholarships

Students must be former graduates of Custer County high schools.
